Every summer the McGahas gather @ Tellico and the Old Homeplace in the mountains of NC. We have tried to get together at other places, but nothing comes close to meeting where Jenn’s grandfather was raised. Paw Paw McGaha loved having his family together to share stories and his famous black walnut cake. God called him and Grandmother home a few years ago, but their presence and legacy is still felt every summer.
We meet in the beautiful mountains to eat, reconnect, play games, splash in the creek, eat some more and simply thank God for His beauty found in the faces of family members. My favorite part is that my children are making some of the same memories that I made as a child. No amusement park can compare to the fun of tubing down a cold mountain creek surrounded by ones that truly love you no matter what.
Yesterday I was reminded of the importance of family. We are praying that within a couple of years we may be able to bring our new son/daughter to the McGaha Family Reunion and that he/she will feel the love and joy of being a part of a family.
